BUSINESSES in North Yorkshire can access free advice on how to improve their environmental performance and save money at an event being run by sustainability experts Envirowise and Business Link Yorkshire this month.

The event, at the Allerton Court Hotel, Northallerton on Wednesday March 31, is aimed at firms which are starting to improve their green credentials, and features two sessions that focus on different aspects of resource efficiency.

Companies can attend one or both sessions on the day.

Attendees to the morning session will learn the benefits of improving water efficiency and have straightforward cost saving tips explained to them.

While it is designed for water intensive businesses such as manufacturers, the session would also be relevant to retail and commercial companies.

In the afternoon, the focus switches to how office-based businesses can profit from tackling waste and using resources more efficiently.

It will include interactive workshop exercises, presentations and case studies.

In both sessions, experts from Envirowise and Business Link Yorkshire will be on hand to answer questions.

Helen West, chief executive of Business Link Yorkshire, said it was estimated businesses in Yorkshire and the Humber could save at least £550 million through low cost or cost-free resource efficiency improvements. She said, “Business Link can connect businesses with projects and organisations – such as their local Green Business Club, The Carbon Trust and indeed Envirowise – that help them achieve these improvements.

“Our business advisers can also offer a free business healthcheck, identifying ways to boost a company’s bottom line, and our Customer Information Centre provides immediate, practical advice by phone.”

The morning session runs from 9.45am to 12.30pm, the afternoon session from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. To sign up, companies should phone Business Link Yorkshire on 0845 604 8048 or email info@businesslinkyorkshire.co.uk.
