SAUCY humour from a bygone age has returned to the North Yorkshire seaside with the relaunch of risqué postcards.
The traditionally bawdy cartoon cards, which featured double entendres and cheeky jokes about heaving bosoms, henpecked husbands and miserable wives, were hugely popular and sold in small coastal shops across Britain before they were deemed politically incorrect.
Now they are once again set to become as much a part of the furniture of the seaside as donkey rides and funfairs as Yorkshire-based firm Bamforth are relaunching the cards in Scarborough.
The town has become the first to stock the cards, which have not been on shelves for decades and will feature firm favourites as well as previously unseen designs.
There will be 54 revamped cards available for about 50p.
The Bamforth images will also be featured on mugs, toasters, t-shirts, egg cups and sweet boxes.
