New bus service in link to attractions A YORK bus operator has launched a new summer route in the city to help visitors get to and from two local tourist attractions.

Transdev York’s No 45 service between the city centre, York Maze and the Yorkshire Air Museum will continue until September 1, starting from York Station and passing along Rougier Street and Merchantgate and by the University of York four times a day along its route.

Nigel Eggleton, the firm’s sales and marketing director, said the route was in response to demand.

He said: “Our additional research recognised the desire for a regular and timely service which would embrace these two major tourist destinations.”

Paula Scurfield, business director at the Elvington -based Yorkshire Air Museum, said she hoped it would draw in more tourists and make it easier for regular visitors to head to the attraction. She said: “We enjoy a good number of visitors from outside the region as well as locally, so a new service during this busy time will be welcome.”

Both attractions have offered £1 off the standard entry price when visitors present a same-day Transdev bus ticket, subject to conditions. More information is available at yorkshireairmuseum.org and yorkmaze.com
