I HAVE not yet been to the Mystery Plays, but can thoroughly recommend thee “fringe” events.
These are one-woman shows in four different city churches, which are all well worth visiting, taking an original, entertaining and thought-provoking approach to stories from the Bible.
They are running throughout August at 2pm, lasting just half an hour each. Admission is free. They take place on the following days. Tuesday: Holy Trinity, Micklegate; Wednesday: All Saints’, North Street; Thursday: St Martin’s, Coney Street; Friday: St Helen’s, St Helen’s Square.
