SWING commander Simon Dyson looked certain to miss the weekend at the final major of the season.

The York golfer hovered for most of the second round around the projected cut-line before falling away badly at the end in difficult conditions and failing to improve on a steady opening of one-over-par in the USPGA Championship at the testing Ocean Course on Kiawah Island.

He recorded a second round of 80, leaving him considerably below the cut-line as The Press was published.

Starting on the tenth hole, bogeys on the fourth, sixth, a treble bogey eight on the seventh and a dropped shot at the ninth ended his hopes after going out in two-over-par 38.

On the opening day, Dyson was hit by two dropped shots on the second and fifth holes, though sandwiched in between was a birdie on the par-four third.

The world number 42’s inward nine was an improvement, with a brace of birdies on the par-five 11th and 16th holes.

But the advantage of those was wiped out with a double-bogey on the par-three 14th.
