CUDDLY people from York and North Yorkshire are being urged to take part in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest marathon group hug.

The attempt, organised by the baby charity Tommy’s and the cuddly bear brand, Forever Friends, will take place at Leeds railway station for more than 25 hours from Wednesday, September 19, until Thursday, September 20.

Huggers will need to have high levels of stamina, and be a good listener, good company, humorous and “comfortable with others”.

Potential huggers should send an email of no more than 50 words to recordhug@lucre.co.uk to highlight why they should be in the attempt, along with their name, address and contact number by August 20.
