A YORK pre-school celebrated its landmark 40th birthday with a family fun day.
The event was the culmination of West Thorpe Pre-School’s celebrations for its 40th year, featuring a bouncy castle, reptile roadshow, face-painting and fancy dress.
Despite being forced to move indoors due to weather, the fun day attracted a good turn out and a great reception from children and parents alike.
Susan Hunter, leader of the Dringhosues pre-school, said: “Everyone seemed to have a lovely time. The children got a lot out of it; they were very excited and they were all running about everywhere.”
Open since 1972, the pre-school currently provides daytime care for about 60 families.
Its final celebration was the finale of a number of events commemorating its 40th year, including a Jubilee party, and an Olympic themed week.
