Malton & Old Malton battled their way into the third round of the York & District Junior Cricket Association Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-13s Cup after posting a score of 117-4 at Clifton Alliance.

Jack Charles made 31 not out and Matthew Watson was unbeaten on 30, with Liam Powell taking 2-27.

Owen Marshall led the reply, but Bradley Freer (2-13) and Matthew Watson (2-20) assured their team of the win as Clifton closed on 109-7.

Another team batting first were Londesborough Park, who closed on 101-5 against Hemingbrough with Kieron Brook making 21 not out and Angus Harrison 19, and James Boyd-Bell taking 2-14.

Although Shaun Crouch made 18, Tom Stephenson (2-12), Angus Harrison (2-0) and Edward Wraith (2-11) ran through the ’Brough batsman.

Having come through the first round with a 14-run win over Tadcaster Magnet, Osbaldwick made it into round three with a six-wicket win at home to Ovington.

Batting first, Ovington succumbed to the bowling of Jay Snowden (3-6), Connor Callum (3-17) and Ben Richardson (2-4).

Snowden made 11 in reply as Charley Buckley (2-10) made life tricky for the Osbaldwick batsman.

H Wannup (30no) and G Burtenshaw (23no) were on form as Bishopthorpe posted 83-1 in their 20 overs at Stamford Bridge.

J Hopkinson (3-12), W Ellis (3-2) and H Wannup (2-0) skittled Bridge and they ran out winners by 59 runs.

Selby bowlers Adam Leetham (2-10), Brandon I’Anson (2-4) and Joseph Burrows (2-1) saw off the challenge from visitors Bolton Percy. Selby made 97-3 with Sam Pocklington’s 30 not out the highlight.

Dunnington had an eight-wicket win over Yapham.

Will Cardy made 21 and Jimmy Quinney 18 in Yapham’s total of 93-6 with Callum Mooney taking 1-3.
