WITH reference to the front-page headline ‘Crossbow Road Rage Nightmare’ (The Press, May 16), it should come as no surprise to anyone when we see once again the spectacle of mayhem through the medium of weapon ownership.
It is all too easy these days to ‘take up arms’ so to speak, by hopping on down to a local purveyor of so-called ‘sporting’ goods and purchase everything you need to satisfy your violent desires, whether it be for a personal vendetta, a callous disregard for wildlife or other people’s pets.
With this in mind, surely the time has come for action to be taken to curtail the use, abuse and sale of such goods.
Let’s face it, at the end of the day nobody needs a crossbow, an air rifle, a BB gun or a samurai sword. If they feel they do, then the potential for harm to human or animal life is all too real and becomes a real concern for everyone.
