MANY readers will have read the touching feature about the Oliver family (Women’s Press, May 15) and were doubtless moved by the love and fortitude demonstrated by Rob and Tracey Oliver in caring for their seriously ill son, Alfie.

Martin House Children’s Hospice plays a significant part in supporting this family, and other families in the York area, by providing respite for life-limited children. This week is Children’s Hospice Week when children’s hospices all over the country seek to raise funds and awareness about their services.

The week has a superhero theme and we are inviting supporters to join in the fun by taking part in Superhero Friday on May 25. Be a superhero for Martin House by dressing up as your favourite character, raising funds and helping ensure Martin House can carry on supporting families such as the Olivers. For further information about Martin House, visit martinhouse.org.uk We rely on the support of people across the region to help us raise the £4.9 million needed each year. This is our 25th anniversary year and we would like to thank readers and York residents for their valued support.
