A MAJOR £318 million scheme to upgrade 12 miles of the A1 to a motorway through North Yorkshire is fully open to traffic now that the final southbound section has been fully opened.
The removal of all traffic management on the road between from Junction 51 Leeming to Junction 50 Baldersby including cones and a 50mph speed restriction, means less congestion and improved journey times for road users in North Yorkshire.
The Highways Agency say peripheral work will continue as part of the upgrade project, but not on the main carriageway.
