Charity fundraisers in Yorkshire are appealing for unwanted household items for their furniture and electrical stores. The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is looking for good quality sofas, armchairs, dining tables, chairs, beds wardrobes, televisions, fridges and washing machines, as well as smaller items such as hi-fis, DVD players, toasters and kettles.
Chris Ward, the charity’s area manager, said: “Every year, three million items of furniture go into landfill that could easily be re-used. I hope the people of Yorkshire will think BHF when having their spring clean this year.”
The charity runs a free collection service for bigger items, which can be arranged by phoning 0844 412 5000 or online at bhf.org.uk/collection
