THE mother of a missing teenager whose body was found in the River Ouse has made a moving tribute to her son as “ an amazing individual, gorgeous inside and out”.

Jordan’s body was found on Tuesday at Naburn Marina, following a month-long search for him since he went missing on February 14.

The Acomb 19-year-old was last seen on land hundreds of metres away from the Marina, between the river and Acaster Lane, near to where where flowers and messages have been left by family and friends.

In a statement she gave to The Press, Nicola Jobling said: “This is a very, very sad occasion. Jordan is my first born, my best friend, my confidant as I was his. He was his sister Georgie’s hero and Wesley said he was the best brother in the universe. For my mum, Maureen, Jordan’s Nanna, he was the sunshine in her life, as well as well as for Auntie Shell and Uncle Bri.

“Jordan was a friend to many, old and young. There are no words to describe him, really, truly an amazing individual, gorgeous inside and out. Jordan’s loving, amazingly compassionate and caring personality will live in the hearts of all those people he came into contact with.

“He will be watching over us now like the angel he is and always has been... smiling a smile that brightened up the days like the sunshine above. Jordan lives life to the full and he would want you all to do so. Good bye to my darling, darling boy... may you rest in peace... ooo and enjoy your new life. Forever young.”

Among the tributes to be left by the river is one of Jordan’s T-shirts left by Ms Jobling with the slogan “Same Same But Different”.

She pinned a message to the shirt reading: “To my eldest delightful, my first boy, my son, my best friend, who brought joy to me and everyone.”

A message from Jordan’s Nanna read: “To my darling Jordan, why, why? There is so much love for you but you will be at peace with your grandad, ‘your mate Marmite’ and your Uncle Paul. We all miss you so much, you know you were my world”.

A message, from his 17-year-old sister, Georgie, said: “RIP my gorgeous, gorgeous brother. It’s so sad you had to leave us like this. I will love you and miss you everyday. You are forever in our hearts and with us. Love you always big brother.”

Jordan’s ten-year-old brother, Wesley, left a drawing for his brother symbolising that Jordan will always be in his heart. One message from a friend read: “Jord, you’re one in a million. I couldn’t have wished for a better best friend. Never forget you mate. I love you. George.”

Jordan’s family have made numerous appeals since his disappearance, including a poster campaign led by the Marks & Spencer colleagues of Jordan’s mother, appealing for information.

• The Press joined Jordan’s mother at the scene with her agreement.

Father’s devastation at loss of ‘shining light’

JORDAN’S dad Gary Sullivan echoed the despair that the entire family were suffering after the discovery of Jordan’s body.

Said Mr Sullivan: “I am totally devastated. Like everybody else, I am in bits.

“Jordan was such a lovely, lovely lad and he is going to be so sadly missed.”

He recalled that when he first got the call from the police that Jordan was missing he was immediately sent into a state of shock.

“It was one of those things that I just could not believe,” said Mr Sullivan.

“You would never have thought it of Jordan.

“He was just such a genuine, nice lad.

“There are always those people who when they come into a room they light places up – that was Jordan.

“He is going to be so badly missed by us, all his family and friends. It’s so sad. It’s such a sad shame.”
