POCKLINGTON fighter Danny Harrison-Little is being lined up for an English title shot following his latest knock-out victory.

The 20-year-old next week goes back to Thailand for more intensive training in the martial arts hotbed, and when he returns he could be awaiting a national Thai boxing title fight in July against an opponent to be confirmed.

Harrison-Little went to the Far East for a fortnight earlier this year and since returning has upped his record to five wins from six fights, all five by knock-out.

His latest notable victory came in the British Chang Cup in Bournemouth on Sunday, on a bill of national challenge bouts.

He beat Bournemouth’s Liam Barker in the 67-kilogramme category, fighting under Muay Thai boxing ‘B’ class rules, in which kneeing the head is permitted. His victory came via a technical knockout in the third of five two-minute rounds after knees to the head decked Barker, the referee stopping the fight after a mandatory eight count.

Harrison-Little, sponsored by Contech UK Ltd, fights out of the Chokdee Academy based in Poppleton, York, which is run by Richard Cadden, himself a two-time world Thai boxing champion.

Cadden said: “I was absolutely over the moon with the win. Danny’s only been training with us for 14 months and in that time he’s had six fights and five wins by KO. He’s getting lined up for an English title shot now.”
