Children, parents and staff at Little Joe’s day nursery in Hospital Fields Road, York, took part in a sponsored “hands on” day when they decorated their room and T-shirts with handprints.
The event was in aid of York Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit and the nursery has so far raised £870 with the help of 20 children.
Children also took part in a name the teddy contest and a competition to guess how many sweets were in a jar. There was also a raffle with prizes donated by Elcocks, Barton’s fish and chips, Marks & Spencer and The Swan pub.
Janine Ratcliffe, the nursery manager, said: “I am so pleased with the support from everyone involved. The sum we have raised so far is fantastic.”
