A man who threw a chair at his partner has been given a two-year supervision order.
Matthew John Charles Williams, of Brigg Lane, Camblesforth, appeared before Selby Magistrates’ Court after he pleaded guilty to one charge of assault.
The court heard Williams, 38, had recently lost his job and had been arguing with his partner, Helen Raper, over money on January 23 when he threw the chair in frustration, bruising her shoulder and neck.
Defending, Louise Walker, told the court Williams accepted this had been “a reckless act”, borne of frustration and ongoing financial pressures.
Magistrates issued Williams with a 24-month supervision order, ordered him to attend a course tackling domestic abuse, complete 150 hours of unpaid work, and pay £85 in costs.
