YORK veterinary products business Animalcare has made Dr Iain Menneer its managing director.
Dr Menneer, who has previously worked in the Research And Innovation Office at the University of York to commercialise research through licensing and spin-off companies, joined Animalcare in 2003 in marketing and business development roles, with a particular focus on commercialisation of new products.
He became head of marketing in July 2009 and director of marketing in June last year, being promoted to the board the following month.
Animalcare, based in Dunnington, near York, said the appointment would allow other senior managers to focus on the development of new generic drugs for animals, investment opportunities and the distribution of existing products.
Stephen Wildridge, chief executive, said: “This important step recognises the ability and success Iain has already demonstrated in growing the UK business.
“At the same time, it frees up valuable senior management time and resources to focus on key opportunities outside the UK both at product level and for the business as a whole.”
