York Hospital’s Lots Of Cots Appeal has received a £2,710 boost from York Round Table.

The appeal is aiming to replace all 36 of the 30-year-old cots in the maternity unit, which has 3,400 deliveries a year.

Not only will the new cots look fresh, they have the added benefit of being able to vary the height electronically which is a particular benefit to women who have had caesarean sections as they will no longer need to bend down to pick up their babies David Posliff, York and County 65 Round Table member, said: “We are delighted to present money to such a worthy cause. We work on various exciting fundraising activities during the year. It is a pleasure to donate to such a worthy cause which will benefit the next generation which will also, hopefully, include potential York Round Table members.”

Lucy Watson, fundraising manager at the York Teaching Hospital charity, said: “We are grateful to York Round Table for funding two more cots for the maternity unit. We have received fantastic support for the appeal and we have now funded 32 cots with four remaining to replace.”

Residents or business can sponsor a cot, which will bear their name, for £1,355.
