THE York Unitarians’ healing and spirituality group will be celebrating the Spring equinox with a “dragon” event next Tuesday.
Claire Lee, one of the organisers, explaine the significance of the dragon.
“At the autumn equinox, the dragon goes ‘underground’ for the winter months – a kind of hibernation.
“This represents the time that the earth is quiet and dormant and also the time when we can look within ourselves. It gives us the time and focus to reconnect with our deeper wisdom and spirituality without the distractions that spring and summer bring.
“At the Autumn equinox last year, we did a spiralling meditative dance, gradually circling inwards. By doing this, we symbolically put our dragon to sleep for the winter, to be awoken, refreshed at the Spring equinox when the fertile earth energies become active and strong again and our energies tend to focus more towards the outside world”.
The event will take place at 7pm for a 7.30pm start at the chapel in St Saviourgate. There will be a charge of £4.50 (£2 concessions), and visitors are asked to take food or drink to share.
The ground floor of the chapel is fully accessible. Phone Claire on 07930 275889 with any questions regarding the evening, parking and/or accessibility.
