RECORD-breaking crowds enjoyed the Spring sunshine at Askham Bryan College’s annual lambing day.
The York-based college welcomed about 6,000 visitors for a day of activities and fun.
Everything from tractor rides to cows being milked were on the agenda and for the first time there were demonstrations of spinning and weaving, courtesy of the Guild of Weaving, Spinning And Dyeing.
There was a farmers market organised by deliciouslyorkshire.
Sally Steadman, marketing manager for the college, said: “We could not have asked for a better day – it has been perfect really.
“Everyone had a brilliant, brilliant time as we enjoyed our busiest year yet.”
John Wray, section leader for agriculture, said: “It’s a great day out whether you’re seven-years-old or 70. As well as being hugely enjoyable, the purpose of the day is to make farming more meaningful and real to people. We want to bring it alive so our visitors can see what’s involved in modern day farming.”
