A SCHOOLGIRL from York said goodbye to her long hair after raising money for charity by having it cut.
Nine-year-old Tyler-Sue Chapman shed a tear at Sensu salon in Ousegate as the hairdresser lopped off more than a foot of the hair she had grown since the age of four.
However, after her seeing her new look, Tyler-Sue said she was more than pleased with the finished result.
“They cut about 13 inches off,” she said. “It was just weird to feel it disappear. It’s really good now – it’s been layered and I like it.”
Tyler-Sue, a pupil of St George’s RC Primary School, raised about £300, which will go to the parents of four-year-old Thomas Cammack. They are trying to raise £500,000 towards vital cancer treatment in America, for their son.
The hair cut from Tyler-Sue will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, which uses real hair to create wigs for children suffering hair loss during cancer treatment.
