A FUNDRAISING drive by a North Yorkshire airbase has raised more than £600 to help support families dealing with the loss of a serving family member.
The Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA) provides help for those who have lost relatives in Iraq and Afghanistan, or through illness or accident.
The community support team at RAF Linton-on-Ouse raised the funds at the base’s Christmas fair.
Ruth Graves, the team’s administrator, said: “I was astounded by the generosity of local business people who donated many great raffle prizes. Also, the support of the local community was amazing. Without their help this would not have been possible.”
