THIRD-PLACED City of York Hockey Club ladies I saw their promotion hopes take a nosedive in North League division one as they lost 1-0 to Lancaster.

There were no goals in the first half, although York had a good opportunity when Kirsty Rossington smashed a ball across the face of the ā€˜Dā€™ for Laura Horne to deflect, but the shot went wide.

York had to defend well to keep Lancaster at bay, but they struggled to maintain possession for any length of time. Lancaster stole the lead midway through the second half when they won and converted a penalty corner.

In Yorkshire League division one, City of York II were 7-0 winners at Huddersfield Dragons.

York led 2-0 at half-time after a straight strike on a corner from Paula Clough, followed by a reverse stick flick from Annabel Lee.

In the second half, Ellie Martin scored twice, Emily Gee netted, player of the match Clough got her second and Fiona Gemmell also struck.

Acomb II succumbed 2-0 to Bridlington in division three.
