DETECTIVES are appealing for information after burglars stole cash and jewellery from a North Yorkshire home.

Two men entered a house on Rose Hill, in Great Ayton, near Stokesley, through an unlocked door at about 8.30pm last Friday while the homeowner was inside.

Police said the thieves shouted abuse at the woman, before stealing her handbag, containing money, and a gold bracelet and gold rings.

The victim suffered a minor hand injury when she tried to stop the men taking her handbag. Police said she has been left “very shaken” by the incident .

Both suspects are described as Asian, aged in their late teens or early twenties, about 6ft tall with stocky builds and both were wearing dark coloured clothing.
