A PROJECT offering support to single people and families who are facing homelessness has helped more than 500 North Yorkshire households in the last year.
The Homelessness Prevention scheme saw two teams set up in Northallerton and Richmond by the Foundation charity, working alongside Hambleton and Richmondshire District Councils’ housing teams to find accommodation for those in difficulties.
More than 850 households have so far been referred to the team and have also been given support to reduce their debt.
Jill Boak, Foundation’s Hambleton project manager, said most of those who sought help had also achieved their goals of getting back in touch with family members and becoming involved in learning or volunteering.
