THE letter from D James describing how his bike was pinched and returned (Letters, February 22) reminded me of a similar event when I was staying in a B&B in Bowness-on-Windermere some years ago.
Our two bikes were on the roof rack of my car which was parked behind the B&B. When we got up for breakfast, my bike had gone – my pride and joy which I had built when I was 13 years old.
After breakfast we checked our car again and would you believe it, my bike had been returned and was leaning against my car. I guess someone had needed a late-night ride home.
Can I make an offer to D James? I will gladly repair his bike free of charge for him. I have been building and repairing bikes since I was ten years old. I am now 65, so I can offer plenty of experience.
Maybe if he were to contact me via The Press I could pick it up and return it with pleasure.
