IT’S always a sign of how a new housing development is settling in when the first of its completed houses come up on the resale market.

Two years ago we visited the Revival development on Tadcaster Road to take a look at homes being built by Shepherd and Taylor Wimpey. Very nice they were, too, was our conclusion.

But what are they like once they have been lived in?

Well, very nice, as it happens… We’ve taken a quick look at two excellent properties on the development, one from each developer and each with different layouts. And one thing in common – they prove what good-quality family homes there are at Revival.

The first is a Shepherd Homes-built house, a spick-and-span three-storey property in College Court which has been stylishly furnished and presented by its owners.

It is actually the former Newmarket style show home and it shows. You come into the house from a hallway (with cloakroom and utility room off) which leads down to a fourth bedroom/study which – an added bonus – opens onto a good-sized conservatory.

There is an integral garage to one side of the hallway. On the first floor there is a breakfast kitchen with Juliet balcony (and a superb range of nearly-new appliances including Bosch double electric oven and five-ring gas hob over, dishwasher, fridge and freezer). Then there is a large living room with dining area and French windows with Juliet balcony. On the top floor there is a master bedroom with en-suite shower room, two further double bedrooms and a house bathroom.

An excellent family home with lots of nice touches and lots of mod-cons. It is offered by Red Move at a guide price of £315,000.

The same can be said about another on the development, this time a Taylor Wimpey construction in Principal Rise, a high and handsome-looking home with a lot to offer and equally stylishly presented.

The layout here is somewhat different, with the ground floor having an integrated garage and hallway and cloakroom – but with a large family room with big bay and French doors opening out onto the rear garden.

On the first floor there is a good-sized kitchen/dining room and a separate lounge with French doors opening out onto a balcony (and there is a cloakroom on this floor, too). Then it’s up again to find three bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and a house bathroom. And there’s more, the house stretches up again to provide another bedroom with en-suite and a study and eaves storage.

This is a bright and brilliant home, immaculately presented throughout. It is offered by Your Move Anscombs at £299,950.
