WE HAVE been contacted by many members of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) regarding the Monks Cross Development. As a result, some organisations are quoting us as in opposition to the scheme and so we would like to take this opportunity to outline our position on the Monks Cross.

The local FSB role is to represent the views of members. Our regional office has been contacted by large number of members and others who are concerned about the development.

We have also received contact in support of the scheme. Bearing in mind that a large number of our members are based in York or other satellite towns, such as Harrogate and Malton, who also feel they will be adversely affected, this is not surprising.

As a result we have had discussions with City of York Council, York Chamber of Trade, Julian Sturdy MP and others to pass on our members’ concerns.

We have refrained from using the FSB to publicise our support or otherwise for the development as there are mixed views among the population and we cannot support views for and against the scheme at the same time.

David Cox, North Yorkshire National Councillor (FSB director), Simon Williams – North Yorkshire Regional Chairman.
