TWO football fans plan to walk from St James’s Park in Newcastle to Villa Park in Birmingham in a week this Easter.

Ian Hall and his friend, John Boxley, have decided to do the 200-mile hike in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Ian, of Wheldrake, said they chose the charity because John’s wife, Alison, had lived with MS for over eight years, and last year she was very seriously affected by the illness.

Ian said: “Alison has recovered a great deal since those dark days, but MS is something she will have to continue living with.

“Therefore, both John and I feel very strongly about doing something to help,” Ian said.

The friends intend to watch Newcastle United, Ian’s team, play Liverpool at St James Park on Sunday, April 1, then walk to Villa Park in time for the match between Aston Villa, John’s team, and Stoke on Easter Sunday. For more information or to donate, type John&Ian’s Big Walk into Google.
