FREEZING weather conditions have continued to cause problems for North Yorkshire motorists with two crashes on roads in Selby district.
Two vehicles crashed on the A19 at Barlby yesterday, resulting in one woman being taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
A police spokesman said the collision between a black Vauxhall Astra and a blue Vauxhall Zafira left debris in the road. Recovery of the vehicles caused heavy traffic build-up until just after 11am.
At 6.15pm on Saturday, a woman driving a Chevrolet Aveo was involved in a collision on the A1238 at Thorpe Willoughby, near Smith’s Metals.
A police spokesman said the woman’s vehicle had ended up in a ditch. She was taken to hospital by ambulance with a minor shoulder injury.
According to the police spokesman, there were 160 call-outs to traffic incidents between Saturday lunchtime and about noon yesterday, with 63 collisions on Monday morning alone.
