Electronic tablets and iPads are not on the cards for councillors and council officers in Selby, although the authority has said they would be considered if they helped save money.

A spokesman for the district council said: “There are no plans at the moment to supply councillors with such technology.

“If such a move were to benefit the way we do business in the future, then we could consider it.

“Clearly we would need to take into account the cost of providing and maintaining any equipment as well as the savings from printing and posting meeting papers and it would only be something we would seriously consider if it made good business sense to do so.”
