A MEETING of the Safer York Partnership to consider whether all of York should be made an alcohol exclusion zone to tackle antisocial behaviour has given the plans the green light.
The Safer York Partnership said the implementation of 20 alcohol exclusion zones in various areas of the city had moved the problem to other neighbourhoods, so it now wanted to create one all-inclusive city-wide zone.
It has recommended that either the area inside the inner ring road or the whole unitary area is made an exclusion zone - meaning that police will have the power to seize alcoholic drinks in any public place from anyone deemed to be behaving antisocially as a result of drink.
