Calling all would-be inventors, innovators, scientists and budding photographers.

As we reported last week, York will be turned into a giant outdoor exhibition space this summer, with scores of images celebrating the city’s contribution to science and technology on show.

Most of the images for the York Science and Innovation Grand Tour are being provided by researchers, institutes and companies in York that are leading the world in their fields.

But organisers want ordinary people involved, too – and are offering readers of The Press the chance to have their own images included.

The only criteria for entry are that you must have a stunning image (or an idea for one: help is available to make sure the image is good enough); that it has a link with York; and that it has something to do with science, technology or innovation.

So: have you invented something? Do you work for a local company which is developing something new and different? Do you know about a great scientist or innovator from York’s past who deserves to be represented in the tour?

If so, send us a photograph or image – or an idea for one.

Entries should be sent electronically to The Press at photographers@thepress.co.uk

We will choose a shortlist from entries submitted, which will be passed on to organisers of the Science and Innovation Grand Tour.

Submissions that are of sufficient quality will be chosen to be included in the Tour.

The deadline for entries is Friday, February 24.
