Those who saw it, listened to it or just heard about it from their mates will remember April 10 for a long time.

Keighley Cougars were up 31-12 with 19 minutes to go. It was the second game of the National League Two season and the Knights were staring a second defeat in the face.

The obits were already being written - two defeats would be too costly in such a short league campaign - when Adam Sullivan spearheaded an amazing turnaround and the Knights ran in 30 unanswered points to win.

According to Knights head coach Mick Cook, that, coupled with the other three results of that month, was the pivotal moment in the championship.

"It was a real positive comeback," he said. "I have always had belief in the team that there was a lot more to come out of them and that showed what they were capable of.

"We comfortably won the home game against Sheffield and then one result you would never get any bookie going for was beating Dewsbury 74-12. We totally ripped them apart.

"In those first four games after the disappointment of Swinton we actually showed what we were capable of and that gave us a lot of belief.

"We later ground out a memorable victory away to Dewsbury and the other highlight was winning the championship at Hunslet.

"Nothing was going right for us and to come back and win 24-22 and secure promotion was excellent, and a massive relief that we had actually achieved it.

"All the fans want the side to win something. Winning games is a good start and when that leads to winning trophies it's even better."

Cook has often praised the fans for their backing along the way, and said it was great they could share in the team's joy at the victory parade and civic reception they enjoyed in York city centre.

"We already knew how good the fans were but their reception that day was outstanding.

"York is not a massive city but to generate that much interest and for people to get out and support the players and the club was beyond belief really. They were just outstanding, just as they have been all year."

He added: "We really appreciate that the Lord Mayor invited us into the Lord Mayor's residence.

"The reward for our work is that you get things like this when you win things. It rounds off a great effort by everybody and caps off a fantastic year for the club.
