Faster broadband plans on hold

PLANS to create faster internet links in rural parts of North Yorkshire have stalled, according to the Countryside Alliance.

The Government named the region as one of four pilot areas for rural superfast broadband networks last year, but a Freedom of Information request by the organisation has revealed none of them have yet received any money from the Treasury, chosen a company to build the scheme, or started work.

The Alliance has said the process has to be simplified to avoid money being wasted, but a Government spokesman said all four projects were making “good progress” and ministers were confident the UK would have Europe’s best broadband network by 2015.

Malcolm Corbett, of the Independent Networks Co-operative Association, said he was unsure whether the schemes should be the responsibility of councils.

Japan is considered to have the world's fastest broadband connection. Japanese internet users have been enjoying high speed connection at the cheapest price. Japan is deemed to be the only country that has the infrastructure to be able to cope with the next-gen internet applications leaving other nations behind when it comes to broadband progression.

Well famcy that! Politicians lying to us, who would have believed it. As long as the central govenment get all the perks, who cares about the speed of broadband in North Yorkshire?
We have been promised all sorts of stuff from successive governments and not seen any of the stuff but the fact that they want to build houses all over the place and put travellers sites all over as well, you know that willget the go-ahead.
