I HOPE readers of The Press, especially in Fulford, will make use of the ‘open day’ Germany Beck consultation organised by Persimmons and Hoggs on Friday in the Social Hall.
Over the very many years that this development has been under discussion, this is of great local significance. Moving on from all the angles of previous opposition, residents now need to get involved in minimising damage and seek to make the best out of it, e.g. a ‘flooding-free A19’, a safer road junction at Fordlands Road/Main Street, continuity of bus services, and gaining badly needed community facilities for young and old.
The timing of the ‘open’ event and community meetings planned is regrettable with Christmas imminent, and the prospect of rushed consultation must be guarded against.
I also hope City of York Council will not be railroaded into rush agreements without residents being fully consulted, and keep us informed of any progress.
Alan Smith, Fordlands Road, Fulford, York.
