A YORK-BASED professional theatre group will present a charity event in aid of the Stephen Magson Memorial Trust tomorrow, at 7.30pm at Friargate Theatre, Lower Friargate, York.
The Riding Lights show will feature poets Nigel Forde and Pete Morgan.
On Boxing Day 2004, Mr Magson, from York, was killed by the Asian tsunami on the Thai island of Koh Phi Phi.
His wife, Denise, and stepdaughter, India, survived and, on their return to Britain, they founded the Magson Memorial Trust, which has since raised £20,000 to buy three new boats for Thai fishermen. All money from ticket sales for the Hope After The Tsunami event will go directly to the trust to further help the people of Kho Phi Phi rebuild their lives and livelihoods.
Riding Lights is donating the use of Friargate Theatre and the poets are performing for no fee. Tickets cost £10 on 01904 613000.
