TWO seasons of treble-winning success at Poppleton Junior Football Club yielded a brace of silverware for two of the club's mainstays.
Adam Ferguson and Mark Nelson have been involved with the club for the last five years and, as manager and coach respectively, have been at the helm of one of the most successful groups of players ever boasted by Poppleton JFC.
The duo steered the Under-13s to the British Sugar Minor League division one championship, the Minor League Cup and the York City and District FA Junior Minor Cup in 2004-05. Then, last season they replicated the terrific triple treat by guiding the U14s to the British Sugar League and cup double, plus the York FA Intermediate Minor League Cup. They were also semi-finalists in the North Riding County Cup last season.
In recognition of their double-treble, players from the U15s squad they now coach, lined up in a guard of honour as club groundsman Jim Ferguson presented the duo with commemorative tankards.
