A YORKSHIRE pilot hanged himself following an air disaster in Ireland which claimed the life of a pilot from York.
An inquest at West Yorkshire Coroner’s Court heard how Oliver Lee, of Bradford, was tormented by the belief that had he been in charge of the flight the lives of his colleagues perhaps could have been spared.
The crash on February 11 at Cork Airport killed pilot Andrew Cantle, 27, who lived in Rawcliffe with his partner, Beth Webster.
Mr Cantle died when he and a colleague were making a third attempt to land in thick fog following a flight from Belfast to Cork.
Both Mr Cantle and his colleague, Jordi Lopez, died in the crash along with four passengers. Six others survived. West Yorkshire coroner Prof Paul Marks recorded a suicide verdict.
