THE Duke of York and his daughter, Princess Eugenie, visited York to officially open the revamped BBC York studios.

Prince Andrew and his youngest daughter yesterday visited the studio to unveil a plaque recording the opening of the new £1.5million studios.

The Duke had been due to visit the radio station HQ on Tuesday, but was unable to make it, and had to rescheduled his visit.

Before unveiling the plaque, which had Tuesday’s date written on it, he joked: “This is going to be one of those Trivial Pursuit questions – which BBC station holds the record for the longest time between the plaque date and opening?”

The new studios at BBC York have state-of-the-art technical equipment to replace some of the 30-year-old gear broadcasters had been using. Princess Eugenie was wearing a plum coloured, long-sleeved dress with suede knee-height black boots.
