A 12-year-old boy remains in a critical condition in hospital, after he suffered head injuries when knocked off his bike by a car.
The boy was cycling from Holly House Farm towards Kelfield Lane, in the direction of Riccall, near Selby when he was struck by a purple Ford Escort, just before 6pm yesterday.
Chief Inspector Mark Grange, of North Yorkshire Police, said the boy was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary, and the police collision investigation unit arrived at the scene at 8.10pm.
Chief Insp Grange said the police were treating the incident as a serious road traffic collision, and confirmed the male driver, who was not hurt in the incident, had not been arrested.
A full road closure was in place at the scene until after 10pm.
