MORE than 80 former employees of Sherburn-based Averys, the weighing machine company, yesterday attended the first every reunion since the factory closed nearly 30 years ago.
Workers, both male and female, from all over the Selby area turned up to South Milford British Legion Club. Some of them were meeting for the first time since the factory’s closure. The company, which started in 1947,was one of the biggest employers in the area with workers travelling from Tadcaster, York, Selby, Sherburn and Garforth.
Reunion organiser Sandra Sims said: “It was good to see so many former workers again, it was a really good turnout.”
