A YORK pub will stage a charity fun day this weekend in aid of an organisation which helps the families of wounded soldiers.

SSAFA Forces Help provides accommodation for relatives of injured servicemen and women while they are visiting their loved ones at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham and the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre in Surrey.

The Turf Tavern, in Thanet Road, will host a fundraising event on Saturday, starting at 3pm, with a bouncy castle, penalty shoot-out, barbecue, disco and karaoke, while there is no charge for admission.

There will also be an auction and a raffle with prizes including a Manchester United museum tour, two York City tickets, a meal for two at the Parvin Indian restaurant on Haxby Road, a teeth-whitening session donated by Woodthorpe Dental Centre and a coffee machine donated by Nestlé.
