A YORK-BASED rail operator has unveiled two films charting speeded-up journeys along the country.

Grand Central, made the films entitled “Grand Central’s 2,660mph train”, in homage to 1953 BBC footage showing the speeded-up journey from London to Brighton.

The films, which are available to view online, show the Grand Central journey from Sunderland to London and from London to Bradford.

“We thought people might like to see something like this again,” said Grand Central Railway’s managing director, Tom Clift.

“We wanted to find a way of marking our new range of cheaper advanced purchase fares.

“This seemed to be a great way of doing that.

“The hope is that this new film will capture the imagination and appeal to a wide audience.”
