TWO teenagers have been bailed in connection with a brutal attack which has left a 15-year-old York boy fighting for his life in hospital.

Aaron Richardson, a pupil at York High School, is still in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted at the entrance to the travelling fair on Knavesmire Road, near York Racecourse, at about 10pm on Saturday.

Police said a 15-year-old boy arrested in connection with the assault has been bailed as enquiries continue.

An 18-year-old man is also reported to have been released on conditional bail.

A spokesman for York Police previously said Aaron had not regained consciousness since the attack and was heavily sedated in an artificially-induced coma in Leeds General Infirmary.

Aaron has been described as a “very popular” and “larger than life character”, who was involved with numerous drama productions, by York High School headteacher, David Ellis. He said teachers and pupils were praying for his recovery.

A police spokesman said: “The 15-year-old boy who was seriously injured in an assault on Knavesmire Road, York, on Saturday 17 September 2011, remains in a critical condition in Leeds General Infirmary.
