A new Green Gym has been set up at Poppleton Community Railway Nursery by City of York Council’s sport and active leisure team.
The gym aims to supply people with medical conditions with a place to improve their fitness in a safe and supervised environment.
The council hopes the new initiative will create a social group, and also appeal to people who would prefer to exercise outside rather than in a traditional gym.
Those who attend the gym’s sessions will be involved in outdoors activities such as making compost, planting and weeding.
The new Green Gym sessions will run every Friday at the nursery from 10am until noon, and will be free to attend.
