THIEVES have stolen cash cards from two people after distracting them while they used cashpoints in York.

One man’s card was stolen by two other men after the thieves claimed they had lost their own.

The stolen card was used later to withdraw a large sum of money. The incident happened at about 3.30pm on Sunday, in Parliament Street.

The offenders are described as between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 10ins tall both of slim build, with black hair and a dark complexion.

The second incident took place at about 4.25pm on the same day at the York Designer Outlet.

Three men distracted a woman who was using a cashpoint at the south entrance of the centre, before stealing her bank card.

Two of the suspects were of slim build and the third was described as stocky. All three have black hair and a dark complexion.

At the time of the theft they were all wearing hooded tops, baseball caps and trainers. The slim men were wearing jeans. The stocky man was wearing three-quarter length combat-style trousers.

It is not yet known if the cases were linked, but anyone with information is asked to phone police on 0845 6060247.
