THE Friends of York Walls group has been accepted as a full member of an international organisation.

The Walled Towns Friendship Circle is dedicated to preserving, educating and promoting walled towns and cities around the world.

The York group is working to raise money to enable the city council to open Fishergate Postern which is in a poor state of repair.

Chairman Keith Myers said: “It will be great to see the Postern in regular use. We want to open it as a Visitor Centre, a base for FYW and a community space.”
