THIS is the fulmination of a project between Eno and multimedia artist Rick Holland. The latter provides words spoken by artists including Eno himself, Laura Spagnuolo and Aylie Cooke while the cranial one doodles in the background.

The end result is neither one thing nor another; an album of monotone poetry set to music where you suspect the computer was left to self compose on auto mode. There is little creative going on and the ethereal musical offerings are so low in the mix you hardly notice them.

Eno is always understated but here too much so, and the impression is of a watered down OK Computer or even War of the Worlds. It’s hardly inspiring.

Pour It Out rescues things a little with some decent guitar and Eno returns to form on The Airman with some disturbing synth tones, but it’s all a bit too worthy and far too serious. Eno alone is always a better proposition.
