THE directors of a York-based company have cycled more than 500 miles from Northumberland to Cornwall in a bid to raise £30,000 for charity.

Miles Dewhurst and Gary Molloy, directors of Park Leisure, which operates holiday parks throughout the UK, took part in the ambitious cycle ride to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Last year the pair raised £20,000 for the charity by cycling from the Lancashire coast to the Northumberland coast.

And this year they hope to push the total to £50,000 after cycling between their most northerly and southerly holiday parks and holding a string of fundraising events in the months to come.

Mr Dewhurst said: “When we told people what we planned to do and that we wanted to complete the 550 miles in five days they thought we were a bit mad. But all our aches and pains pale into insignificance when compared to what our wounded servicemen and women are going through on a daily basis.”
